Cold Air Intake and Exhaust Systems Empty Cold Air Intake and Exhaust Systems

Post by Crtfd Ace 4/28/2011, 22:34

Does anyone know if there are any companies that make cold air intakes and exhaust systems for our car? I'm trying to get more HP out of it without doing something crazy to the engine or emptying my pockets. For the exhaust, I want a deep sporty sound, something like a Nissan 350Z/370Z, but I do not want to sound like one of those civics you can hear blow by from down the street, no need to draw attention. Any help/info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There are plenty of companies, but none in the US. You would actually have to work with the European companies to arrange shipping to the US for these things.

Or you could simply use a 3" male to male exhaust tube and a K&N on the end of the intake tube, and buy flowmasters and have them welded in and delete the back suitcase resonator. Our exhaust systems are already true dual.

Here's a cone filter with the exhaust tube like I mentioned.

And a Remus exhaust

As far as I know the car already comes with a CAI, and judging by the IAC sensor intake air temp is right at ambient within 4-5 deg so not much improvement there.

On the exhaust side just get 20$ cherry bombs and replace the OEM mufflers, thats all it will take to get a good exhaust sound out of it.

I went on the Cherrybombs website. They have quite a few options. I'm an amateur when it comes to exhaust systems, so can you let me know exactly which ones you're talking about or post a link of the exact product so I can go there, buy them and get them installed. Thanks!

I saw your post on the other Cadillac forum as well as your youtube video while searching exhaust options. I thought you had two Flowtech Red Hots on your cat? And by the way, does your Stienmentz resonator change the sound for your application because I have the stock Catera resonator. I've been looking for Stienmentz options for my car now for some time but none seem to be available in the states.

Upon installation of the Steinmets resonator I believe the tone was just a little more high pitched, then stock, then after I added the 2 Flowtech mufflers it got a lot deeper, so I think with the OEM exhaust and 2 cherry bombs it will sound identical to mine.

I must ask, where did you pick up those 2 inch x-pipes? I've been looking for x-pipes, but the smallest I've been able to find is 2-1/2. Please let me know as soon as you can. I need to find those x-pipes to start working on my exhaust system. Thanks.

Also, how do the your old flowtechs compare to your new dynomaxs? Is there any difference in sound at all? As I mentioned before, I'm trying to duplicate the sound of these newer Nissan 3-50/70Zs, Infiniti G 3-5/7, Audi A4/6 and BMW 3/5 Series. They all have this deep sporty sound, yet it isn't really raspy. They're great, and you can really tell when they floor it.

I think the cherry bombs are a tad bit more deep, but its hardly noticeble, also flow is increased and the engine feels a little bit different... the flowtech were picked for quietness and the cherry bombs more for flow.

I also have an x pipe which seemed like it did wonders for the car...
If you ever want to do this to your car I recommend the cherry bombs that are perforated not louvered. and an x pipe.

The combo is fantastic! And yes it does sound like a european M3 but on a way better level. The V6 sounds like an inline 6 wiht the x pipe.

Just to make sure I understand, when you refer to Cherry Bombs, you are referring to the Dynomax mufflers right? The Dynomax/Thrush 24200 mufflers, correct? Or are you referring to the actual brand name Cherry Bomb mufflers? Also, the X-Pipes are definitely something I wouldn't want to forgo. Where do I find/buy the X-Pipe you used? The ones I'm finding seem to be too big for the Cat. Please let me know was soon as you can. Thank you!

And what about the X-Pipe? Which X-Pipe did you use?
