How to: Rear Disk Brakes (Paint & Assembly)

Post by CateraMV6 on 3/4/2010, 19:08

This is what the rear brakes look like on our cars.

The only difference is that the 1997-2000 come with Solid rear brakes, and the 2001s Sport come with Vented Rear Brakes.
What we have here is a caliper that looks much like the 2001 Catera Sport but its stamped 40, instead of 42 as my OEM ones.
However the unit lacks those additional weights found on many of the other cateras.

Here are some pictures of the paint process and assembly.

I think its something like a 6mm bolt that goes in it.
I think the local hardware shop may have some or you can swing by a junk yard and pop some off, they are super easy to take off...

Either way you can try to order them from Rockauto and see if they have the parts listed under there...

I only have these as a spare set, and I may even end up keeping my OEM sutff since they are 42mm pistons, and not 40... these will make for a good upgrade for a solid rotor car though.
