heyy guys.. *questions about my brakes*
my caddi is kinda weird.. everytime i hit the break, i would hear a squeaky sounds.. sumtimes its really scaryy because i would think that when im going fast, and when i apply breaks,, it wont stop.
so i cant really go that fast because,, when i apply break,, it would take time for it to actually stop. But mainly though, what is that squeaky sound?

Well I wanna bet some money that the pads are shot... and you probably wore out all the friction material and you are rubbing on the metal plates.
If you look at your rotors do they look scarred at all can you see groves on them? if so then your pads are shot and you will probably need some new rotors as well...
You can do all that yourself... Autozone has rotors at ~50$pc and also pads will be around 40$/set and you will need 1hr of your time... take the wheels off... remove the calipers put the new pads in... and the rotors of course... and then bolt everything back to the way it was... or you can have a shop do it but get ready to drop another 100$ in labor on top of that...

Yeah, these are great cars, as long as they are well maintained!

Okay so this may sound like a newbie question, but I've never done rear disk pads. Have any pointers or special tools needed.

I haven't tackled that either. I trust myself with certain lil repairs, but I want my brakes to work. lol

Well I assume that I need a C clamp to psh the piston and remove the caliper. Just not sure what I should use the silicon grease and where to use the high presure grease.

it also might be a good idea to have the rotors resurfaced if youre not replacing them, so the pads will will adapt quicker

I use a flat head screw driver while the caliper is still on the car... you can often pry against the rotor and push on the caliper forcing the piston inside.
Done brake jobs on a half a dozen vehicles with that method and no problems to this day.. the piston gets pushed in all the way.
