Nice to meet everyone (1997 Cat)
Hey guys,
I am new to the Catera brotherhood. Just recently bought a '97 Cat. I know...I am a glutton for punishment, I guess. I love working on cars, though and this one really appealed to me. I like the German auto heritage, the looks, the luxury, etc...Besides, the price was great and it has been owned to by two "mature" women and has been maintained meticulously by both previous owners. This is also my work commuter car as I work 35 miles from home and have been driving a beat up 1992 Ford Escort that I still have from my days in the Army. I was able to squeeze 210K out of the escort before I just decided I didn't want to spend any more money on it and I also wanted to step up a bit in the comfort department...and the Cat sure does upgrade me in that area! I also have an '05 Silverado 4X4 crew cab that obviously doesn't do well on gas and simply would not be feasible with a 35 mile one way commute. The Cat did have a few problems such as worn out suspension, a couple tires that needed replaced, bad hood lift struts and bad tie rod, but am working on fixing all that now and so far I just love the car. I have a few more things to do in order to achieve tip-top shape for a '97, but i will get there. Mortgages, three kids, jobs, baseball, soccer...they can all significantly slow down someone's goals when it comes to car modifications and such. Look forward to working with everyone and contributing on behalf of other Cat owners, looking forward to the help I know everyone will dole out on my behalf should I need it and looking forward to being part of what looks to be a pretty damn cool car owners community. Let's have some fun.

Welcome aboard. Hope we can help you keep your Cat in tip-top shape. Post some pictures in MEDIA/Pictures when you can. Visit my Catera Album for a look at what Catera/Omega owners worldwide have done to their cars.

Oh, No....I am a die hard Cubbies fan! I am originally from Chicagoland and through school, the Army, jobs etc, i somehow ended up in the STL metro area. Well, it isn't Chicago, but it is cheap as hell to live here...
If it makes you feel any better i wasn't able to keep my oldest boy from the Cardinal dark side of the force, but i got my youngest boy locked into Cubbie blue.
