I recently purchased 2 pairs of projectors, the one pair was said to be from 07-08 FX35, the other from 2009 FX45... both are xenon but here is what I noticed...

THE REFLECTOR BOWLS:
The 07-08 FX35, one bowl has dark rectangle spots, the other doesnt

THe F45 has both bowls with dark spots on the top areas, but doesnt seem to affect the output:
Both bowls look like this...

THE FRONT PARTS:

The FX35 07-08 have the round secondary cutoff shield that mimics the first one...
I modified it for color without cutting it off by pushing it 1mm down...

The 09 FX45 has a triangluar looking cutoff shield, seems to do the same job, cutoff is sharp but no color.

So the question is this, should I bother to get rid of the second shield on it?
They are real nice, razor sharp cutoff, pretty bright but I do want some color and I wonder if its an option to move that out of the way or get rid of it all together.

INPUTS ARE WELCOME!

Well i dont know the technical answer youre looking for but i am curious as to why you keep showing different light combos...do they all fit in our bezels? or do they require modification...Eventually im looking to get some flashy new projectors to replace the stock standard bulbs. But everywhere i look the price is always around $400. So if just getting the projectors instead of the whole headlight system is more affordable and feasible id rather do that...input/experiences are greatly appreciated, especially if modifications are required!

The reason why I do this, is simple, as I learn something I pass it along. I am heavily involved on the HIDPlanet.com forums and that is where I gained much of my knowledge on HIDs and headlights in general.

ONce I got my fingers wet with the stuff, it just kept going, and soon it turned into a hobby.

I have an engineering degree so to me its a game of figuring out what works and what doesnt, and how do we make it better.

Headlights provide a certain signature for every vehicle and the safety aspect behind them is not to be overlooked either.

As a result it has become maybe even an obsession to drive any car had have the best headlights possible.

Some people show off how fast their cars are, I show how bright my headlights are.

Also to summarize this, our OEM HIDs suck big time and as a result I have been going on a quest to find out a good cheap alternative.

You can pick from any of the single or bixenon projectors but bixenon offers features that the single xenon simply cant match.

At the moment the E46 and the FX projectors are the best ones out there that fit our headlights.

THe RX is a single xenon and also works well and its fairly cheap.

So if you have halogen or Xenon projector assemblies you can simply swap out the old stuff with some custom hardware and create something to be proud of.

And for us with old non-projector halogen's, we pray to find a cheap set of lenses and housings from Europe so we can upgrade our headlights. But for now we sit and drool over MV6's custom headlights.....I think I should have bought the 2K1 Sport when I had the chance, customizations would be so much simpler.

It all makes sense based on what you guys wrote. I definately would love to switch mine out for some halo style projectors. Electrical is something ive always been scared of, but want to learn more about. Ill definately check out the other forum and see how to put some beamer headlights in. Hopefully if all goes well ill put a DIY on here. btw, congrats on your win sunday :-p
